I really like Gordon Bennet's semi-fictitious "At Last! The Rules of Fiction Listed and Explained" . Rules 11 - 13 are especially insightful in a tongue-in-cheek way:

11. Choose the right word; choose several right words.I think I've come up with another "writers' rules" to add to my list: learn touch typing. Yes, I believe in it strongly because it saves much time, increasing a writer's output.

Thanks for stopping by, Lei. Yes, there are some writers who pride themselves on typing illiteracy. Of course, if you're successful enough, you can always have someone else do your keyboarding, just as authors in the past wrote their works in longhand and had typists or even an emanuensis!
