Don't Read
Have you heard about this one? Audible Unveils "Don't Read" Campaign and Audible's dontread.org and listeningsaves.org? I'm speechless!
A writer's journal about English words, books and writing ... with a techie touch
born with a pencil in my mouth ... printers' ink runs in my veins ... can't think without a keyboard ... can't wait to wireless thoughts

Have you evr heard some authors speaking voices... truely scary!
I could appreciate maybe listening to poetry read by the author but anybody with the necessary experience and acting ability to read a book well would surely be acting rather than reading!
Don't lose hope in the written word. Maybe the sort of people who rely on this will bring up their children the same way, the illiterate children won't be able to read the application forms to buy these spoken books and the little sub-species will die out after one generation!
The funny thing is their highly original marketing folks simply stole the ALA's "Read" campaign www.ala.org. Seeing as it isn't a parody and is meant to help them make money I'm not sure why ALA hasn't gone after them. Their press release even mentioned the ALA and their "80s" campaign. Apparently the 30 something dimwits at the marketing agency haven't been to a library in 20 years.
