If you don't understand any (or all) of these items, send me an email, and I'll write a blog post on the subject. Or, if you are bold or disagree with anything listed, comment and we can discuss it in public.
Unfortunately, I agree with all of them. I laughed (guffawed, actually) at 9 and 5.
I hear a lot of "I know you aren't supposed to do it this way, but..." from new writers who have just the first few chapters done and are going to start passing them around to publishers.
