Travel Writing
I understand how this is an area in which the nonfiction writer can easily lose objectivity. I spent one holiday on Roatan, an island in the Bay of Honduras. Isolated 30 miles from town, during ten days of hurricane-like weather, I occupied myself mostly drinking cheap Honduran beer, reading Asimov's Foundation books, and writing lengthy descriptive letters to family and friends. One of those friends later praised the writing she'd received, urging me to prepare an article on my experiences. Alas, she'd thrown out my letter and I'd run out of beer. Drat. I left a long message and then the blogger thing messed up and I lost the entire bit. I wish they'd let you sign in first before you waste your time writing. :)
Maybe you could try a one character message first to make sure it's working. I never have problems with commenting.
Man, I just did it again. It's asking for my blogger id, then seems to want my google id, then I'm moved out of the thing entirely. Oye
You are much more savvy and confident with all the tech stuff, I think. It takes me hours to plow through doing something really simple and you probably do it in a few minutes. When these things come up I can't remember the ids or the passwords or whatever and it all becomes a mess. And even when I do figure it out, it's promptly out the window by the time I do it again. Talk about short term memory, can say no nano memory?
I promise to stop kvetching. I do.
In reality I practice rather risky surfing: I let the browsers remember most of my usernames and passwords. I can do this with confidence because no one else ever uses my computer. But even I need a cheatsheet once in a while, especially when I sign up with a new website or service. So, I have pertinent info in a table in a MS Word document available on the tool bar at the bottom of Windows. I also have it printed out, and a mini-version of the most important sites to take with me when I travel. Not so smart after all, huh?
