Parents Reading for Children
for as much time as they want their children to read.
Not reading to children, adults reading for themselves. Children emulate their parents' actions. Veg out before the TV, your kids will grow into couch potatoes. Read books, and your progeny will read books. O.K., maybe comics at first, but later graphic novels.
Now, go do as Miss Haueisen, our high school librarian taught: sit up straight, under good lighting, hold a book at a 45-degree angle to your eyes and about 18 inches away, and read. Read.

This is great advice, Georganna. My son, who studies Calculus and French for fun, has mentioned that growing up around books (of all sorts) instilled in him a love of reading and learning.
I totally agree with this post. Children who grow up with reading parents even copy their parents in decorating style. I love going to my grown kids' homes and seeing bookcases full of books in every room of their homes. 8-)
Agreed! If you see your parents doing something, then you'll pick up that habit -- good or bad. Gee, could that be why there is a drug problem in our schools? What are the parents doing, shooting up?
