Many readers of
A Writer's Edge are
bloggers. Some do it for pleasure, some for practice or as a writing prompt, some share useful information, and probably a few are in it for the money (good luck!) If you're a blogger, you might be interested in these

Besides the writing practice, combined journal/scrapbook/keep-in-touch advantages, blogging has taught me a lot about the computer. I feel like it's daily homework.
Welcome, Oma. You're so right, especially if you try to keep up with all the blog tricks and features! It's an education in itself. Today I checked some of my links -- chagrin!
Thank you for the link Georganna. The amazing thing about those statistics is that they are now all outdated and substantially higher.
For example When we first announced we were launching BlogWorld in November of 2006 Technorati was tracking 57 million blogs. By the time the first BlogWorld took place in November of 07 they were tracking 110 million blogs!
Many of the statistics cited are from pew internet research who last conducted a study like this in 2007. We felt at the time their numbers were under reporting the real extent of the blogosphere but they do use well accepted scientific methodology to conduct their research so we felt it was best to go with the conservative figures.
Here are a couple other stats for you.
in 2007 BlogWorld attracted 1,600 bloggers, podcasters, internet radio and TV broadcasters.
They had a combined monthly audience of over 98 million!
Again those are conservative figures.
Based on our current registrations our attendance is on pace to double for 2008.
Blog on!
