Recommended by the premier editorial referral service, Preditors & Editors, which requires offering:
- sample edits of at least one page (3-5 preferred)
- estimated time required, subject to plus or minus 10%
- an editing plan prior to contract signing
- a written contract specifying payment timing and amounts, what kind of editing is to be performed, how cancellations will be handled, and a clear definition of any editing terminology, mileposts and deadlines
